Case file 187, 6/11/14 - 6/14/14
June 11th, 2014
Watchdog 187, Samuel Brock
Threat Level: Beta
Nano Saskai was held in custody for less than two hours, but no formal charges were ever raised, nor was Watchdog 213 able to find any record of the police making a demand for Mann’s jet to land.
Capt. White returned with Mann, and shortly afterward, Sasaki was released, though their plane was not given clearance to take off.
Our research on James Marsh has connected him to the Republican presidential candidate from the last election, Susan Miller’s opponent, Benjamin Morris. Marsh’s company was a major campaign contributor and Marsh himself served as a campaign advisor.
Given Sasaki’s position as public relations to the White House and PR advisor to President Miller, this attempt to attack Sasaki may have political roots. Marsh’s political connections may also explain the leaks in security surrounding this mission. If Marsh was behind this attack then it will be evident when the attacks stop and the leak dries up. If the attacks continue, it may indicate that Marsh was not the driving force, but merely an agent of Morris.

Threat Level: Beta
Mann’s jet was given clearance to leave Singapore this morning and has resumed its scheduled flight plan. We followed them to India, where they were met with considerably more enthusiasm by the locals. In the city, people, especially children, stared at and followed Henry.
Henry seemed remarkably uncomfortable. Usually he does not allow people to stare at him, but he seemed unable to escape it. The children apparently believed Henry (and perhaps all Extraordinaries) to be one of their many gods.
The team met with Dr Varuna Jarita. Her military files indicate that she is an Extraordinary herself and one with a criminal record. Watchguard files classify her as Threat Level Beta; benign powers, but violent behavior. However, the dossier on Dr Jarita has recently been updated and all charges against her have been pardoned. It is this sort of dangerous sympathy towards Extraordinaries and blindness to their threat that necessitates the Watchguard.
Dr Jarita agreed to accompany the team to the US after making a stop in Southern India.

Threat Level: Beta
Overland, the Dr Jarita’s errand will take three days. At her insistence, they stopped at a local monument where they participated in honoring locals who had been killed by the recent plague.

Most of the countryside is deserted, leaving towns and villages abandoned. We are forced to rely on long range surveillance and remote cameras to continue our vigil. We are proceeding with caution. Dr Jarita warned the team that this area of India is inhabited by bandits she referred to as road pirates.
We were able to jack into the local satellite feeds. No foreign satellites are allowed over India, eliminating our access to long-range communication and our own satellites. Quality was poor, but we were able to identify several armed camps along our route. While we are well armed and equipped to deal with Extraordinaries, we are trying to avoid contact with these bandit groups. As we proceed south, following Henry and the team, they are more likely to come into contact with these road pirates first.
We did not have to wait long. Infrared imaging detected engine signatures and body heat on the road ahead of the team. Henry pulled over and the group left their vehicles. Dr Jarita proposed paying off the bandits, but the team agreed that they would refuse.
Henry has often denied that he is a hero, downplaying his meritous actions during the Gulf War. However, Henry has never stood aside and allowed crimes to be committed in his presence and indeed seems heartened by the opportunity to do some good. I have observed Henry too long to believe that it is merely the chance to exercise his great strength, something he must normally keep under careful control. However, I believe that these skirmishes with enemy Extraordinaries are a distraction from Henry’s social problems, issues that he is unable to deal with and which are his greatest weakness and danger.
The skirmish was short and violent. Motorized bandits circled the team’s vehicles and closed in. Watchdog 213 has increased Sasaki’s Threat Level to Beta. Her ectoplasmic wings are capable of more than flight. Beside’s being resilient enough to stop bullets, the wings themselves can be used as weapons. Sasaki also displayed what appeared to be martial arts training, which she used to devastating effect. It will likely require armor piercing rounds to penetrate her ectoplasmic defenses and I suggest that if she needs to be eliminated that it be carried out sniper-fashion. Close range engagement would be extremely dangerous.
Watchdogs 213, 199 and myself also made an important observation. While Sasaki, Capt. White and Henry engaged the bandits, Mann assembled what he claimed was a prototype weapon. Ironclad Technologies specialized in aerospace engineering and communications, and to our knowledge has no weapons program or military contract with the US government. The “weapon” that he assembled was nothing more than the PROTOX suit itself.
Images taken at the firefight in Singapore match the suit that Mann assembled and the weapons used. He did not suit up until no one was watching, and he quickly removed it as soon as he was out of personal danger. This suggests that the rest of the team does not know that he is the pilot of the PROTOX suit. Dr Jarita however, did witness his use of the suit. Mann is not an Extraordinary, however we will continue to observe him for the duration of his partnership with Henry and other Extraordinaries.
The road pirates were armed with more than cycle suits, automatic weapons and trucks. One of their number seemed to be an Extraordinary. She charged straight for Henry, which implied that she did not fear his size or strength, engaging him in hand to hand combat, ignoring attacks by Sasaki or Capt. White. She was able to land punches that staggered Henry, or even knocked him down. As they fought, she underwent a physical change. I estimate that her body mass only grew by twenty percent, but her musculature underwent profound changes, and as the fight went on her blows seemed to be even harder. She fought with little technique and indeed seemed to be almost crazed in her attacks.
The woman knocked Henry to his knees and was intent on finishing him off. However, Sasaki was able to land a fatal blow. Henry was well enough that he was able to resume traveling and the team vacated the area, seeking the safety of more populace areas.
We followed, but slowed to inspect the area of the fight. Infrared imaging showed a heat source in the shallow mass grave where they buried the bandits that had been killed. As we approached to investigate, something under the dirt began to move. The female extraordinary dug her way up from the grave, despite the open wound in her stomach. She began to crawl away, and though her wounds looked fatal, Watchdogs 213 and 199 agreed that she was dangerous and this opportunity should be taken to eliminate her.
Armor piercing rounds to the body and head obviously inflicted damage, though she continued to blindly crawl away. Rather than wait for these additional wounds to kill her, I used the RPG intended for Henry. The armor piercing explosive projectile was more effective.
Posthumously this woman was a Threat Level Lamda, and killing her was very instructional. If Henry’s social adjustment issues ever come to a head, or if he ever turns against civilians, he will need to be eliminated and I expect him to be as resilient and resistant to damage as this woman. I am certain that I am carrying enough explosive ammunition to stop Henry Thomas in the event that his violent nature escapes his control.

Holy !@#%, she survived? Ew!
Yeah, Russ emailed me and said that the Watchdogs on our trail would come across her digger herslef out of the grave. She was mortally wounded and dying, but just not as dead as we thought. Of course the Watchguard put her down when they had the chance.
Between she-freak and a revived James Marsh, we've got some creepy villains on hands...
